Keeping Warm In Your Arizona Landscape Design

Temperatures in Arizona have recently been colder than recent years past and many homeowners are staying indoors to keep warm.  We in Arizona have to remember that we’re lucky enough to live in a place that isn’t completely frozen throughout the winter.  We have some landscape design ideas for keeping warm outdoors during the winter months no matter what your style is.

If your style is more classic and timeless then an outdoor fireplace could be a great choice for you.  An outdoor fireplace is an instant focal point for your outdoor living space.  It looks great on a patio and creates a relaxing place to relax and unwind.

Fall In Arizona Is Perfect Backyard Firepit Weather

Dream Retreats backyard firepitWith the crisp chill of autumn upon us, an evening of sitting around a campfire might sound inviting.  Open fires aren’t allowed in most Arizona towns, but backyard firepits and patio fireplaces are.

Although a gas firepit or fireplace lacks the reality of a true fire, it can still put out a very convincing flame.  However, a gas firepit or fireplace will heat consistently, unlike a wood-burning fire.  Maintenance is minimal compared to all the work that goes into taking care of a wood-burning firepit or patio fireplace.  The convenience of it is what makes it so appealing to many people.  Anybody who enjoys the warmth and ambiance of flickering flames, but doesn’t want the hassle of buying wood and cleaning ashes should consider a gas patio fireplace or backyard firepit.

Outdoor Fireplaces

Now that it’s finally cooling down, homeowners throughout the Phoenix area are once again spending time enjoying their backyard landscapes. For those folks looking to create a really unique outdoor living space and extend their time outdoors into the evening the new vent free fireplaces are a great option.  Whether you’re sharing an intimate night with your spouse or entertaining friends with a backyard party the addition of an outdoor fireplace will create a warmth and atmosphere that can only be obtained by adding fire.  And now it’s easier and more affordable than ever to create such a space with the new vent free fireplace units.

Vent free fireplaces can be installed virtually anywhere in your backyard living space and since they require no venting or chimney construction they may also be installed where traditional fireplaces are prohibited. And since they are gas burning they can be enjoyed on the no burn days in the Phoenix area.

There are several manufacturers that offer vent free fireplace systems and log sets but I found two readily available in the Phoenix area that I preferred. The Alpine series by FMI http://www.fmiproducts.com/prod_detail.cgi?prodnum=0.2.0.03 and the Al Fresco series by Majestic http://www.majesticproducts.com/INTRO_DirectVent.asp?T=Direct Vent Fireplace Systems. Both units offer ease of construction, a realistic flame as well as brick liners for a true masonry look. They also come with battery operated remotes and push button ignitions so there are no complicated and expensive electrical runs needed. They are available in 36” and 42” sizes and can be built into any outdoor living room to create the real wood burning feel and warmth that’s perfect on a chilly night.  Ask your contractor about the options to decorate the fireplace with hearth benches, mantels and decorative stone to create a realistic fireplace that will transform your backyard into a year round outdoor living space.
