Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about fire pits or outdoor fireplaces? Find answers to the most common inquiries below.
Should I choose gas or wood-burning?
Both have their appeal. Gas offers instant, controllable flame with easy cleanup, while wood-burning delivers a classic crackle and aroma. We’ll walk you through the trade-offs and design the right fit for how you’ll use the space.
Are fire features safe and up to code?
Yes. We professionally install gas lines, ignition, and controls and build with high-heat-rated materials, so your fire feature is safe, code-conscious, and reliable for years of use.
Can you build a fireplace and a fire pit in the same yard?
Absolutely. Many projects pair an outdoor fireplace as a focal point with a separate gathering fire pit, we design both into one cohesive outdoor-living layout.
What materials do you use for fire features?
We build with natural stone, stucco, and masonry rated for high heat and the Arizona elements, finished to match your home and landscape.
Can you combine fire and water in one feature?
Yes. Fire-and-water features are one of our specialties, combining flame with cascading or still water for a dramatic, multi-sensory focal point in your backyard.

What our customers say about our fire pits
My experience with Dream Retreats has been awesome. We had them originally do our backyard landscaping 3 years ago putting in a pergola, fire pit, pavers, a fountain, Astro Turf, drip system, lighting etc. We recently had them come back out and do a “re-fresh” of our yard with some new pavers in the front, rock, trellises etc. They do outstanding work, are easy to work with, keep their promises, remedy any challenges immediately etc etc. I highly recommend. Jason Tuttle
Dream Retreats did a complete backyard renovation for us and did an incredible job. They installed limestone paving, an outdoor kitchen and fire pit. They are professional and responded quickly to any issues that came up during the process. Highly recommend them!
Dream Retreats did an outstanding job on our backyard hardscape and firepit. Everyone we worked with demonstrated the highest professionalism and attention to detail. We appreciated their respectful, hard-working employees. Our backyard was finished in less than a week.
