The Dream Retreats Experience

Six steps from your first phone call to the day you actually use your backyard. The consultation, the custom 3D design, and the detailed estimate are all free, and a licensed landscape architect draws every plan before anyone picks up a shovel.

How It Works

Our Six Step Process

Most backyard projects go wrong for the same two reasons: nobody planned the build properly, and nobody told the homeowner what was happening. Our process is built to remove both. You see the design in 3D before you commit, the price is fixed in a written contract, and once we start you get a daily schedule showing who is coming and what they are doing.

1

Info Gathering

We start by learning your property and your goals. Robyn, our office manager and your first point of contact, is usually the voice on the other end, and she will get back to you quickly. The more we understand about your lifestyle, your vision, and your budget, the better the design fits.

2

Onsite Consultation

We walk your property with you, at no cost. We talk through what is realistic on your lot, where the sun and drainage actually fall, and what your HOA will approve. You get straight answers about what things cost before anyone draws anything.

3

Custom 3D Design

Sonny Moric, our licensed landscape architect registered in Arizona under license #50733, designs your space. That is the part most outdoor living companies cannot offer. Grading, drainage, and structure get engineered for your lot rather than guessed at, and it comes back to you as a three-dimensional design, not a sketch.

4

Design Presentation

We walk you through the design in detail: the layout, the materials, the brands, and a line-item estimate with options. All of it is free, and there is no obligation. You see your backyard before a single shovel hits the ground.

5

Contract

Once you love the design, we put it in a clear written contract. The price is fixed, the scope is specific, and your warranty terms are written in before you sign, not discovered afterward.

6

The Build Begins

Alex, our construction manager, preps and runs the install, with Jacob and Lucio working alongside the crews. You get a design-to-build walkthrough at the home first, then a daily schedule for the whole job. Design usually takes 2 to 3 weeks and construction typically runs 3 to 8 weeks, depending on scope.

Process FAQ

Questions About Working With Us

What is the Dream Retreats process?

Six steps: information gathering, a free on-site consultation, a custom 3D design, a design presentation with a detailed estimate, a written contract, and then the build. The consultation, design, and estimate are free. Design typically takes 2 to 3 weeks and construction usually runs 3 to 8 weeks depending on scope.

Is the design and estimate really free?

Yes. Your first call, the on-site consultation, the custom 3D design, and the detailed line-item estimate cost you nothing and carry no obligation. We do not charge design fees and we do not offer financing. You only pay once you sign a contract to build.

Who actually designs my backyard?

Sonny Moric, a licensed landscape architect registered with the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration under license #50733. He has been designing Dream Retreats projects for more than 18 years and holds a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and a master’s in Environmental Planning from Arizona State University.

Do I get a 3D rendering before I commit?

Yes. Every design is presented as a three-dimensional rendering, not a flat sketch, so you can see the layout, materials, and elevations before you sign anything. You get it free as part of the design presentation.

How long does the whole process take?

Design phases typically complete within 2 to 3 weeks. Construction usually runs 3 to 8 weeks depending on scope and complexity. If your project needs HOA or permit approval, allow around 4 weeks for that stage, which we manage for you.

Will I know what is happening during construction?

Yes. Before construction we do a design-to-build walkthrough at your home. Once we start, you get a daily schedule showing who is coming and what they are doing that day. Alex, our construction manager, runs the install.

Do I need to hire separate contractors for different parts of the yard?

No. That is the point of the one-company promise. We design and build the whole yard, including pavers, masonry, irrigation, lighting, turf, shade structures, and pool remodels, under one contract. There is no coordinating between trades and no argument about whose work failed.

What happens after the build is finished?

Your work is covered by written warranties that vary by trade, from a lifetime warranty on concrete pavers to 15 years on artificial turf and 2 years on masonry, irrigation, and lighting labor. We are a design and build company rather than a maintenance service, so we design low maintenance yards and stand behind the build.
