A family moved into a brand new home in Waterston North and found what most new builds in Gilbert come with, which is dirt. The house was finished. The front was graded ground running to the sidewalk, and the back was open dirt with no surfaces, no shade and nowhere to sit.
That is where Dream Retreats stepped in. A blank lot is the most straightforward kind of project to get right, because nothing has to be undone first. We designed the front and the back as one property and built it in three to four weeks.
The property now reads as one design rather than a front yard and a back yard that happen to share a house. Out front, gravel, boulders and low desert planting give the elevation something to sit in, and the paver walkway pulls the eye to the door instead of across bare ground. Out back, travertine carries from the covered patio all the way around the pool deck, the turf gives the family somewhere to actually walk and play, and a line of stepping pads floats through the lawn so it stays usable rather than decorative.
Left as it was, the lot would have stayed dirt for another year or two, which is the usual story on a new build once the budget has gone into the house.
This project ran $45,000 to $55,000 for the landscaping and hardscape across both yards.
If you have just closed on a new build and the yard is still bare, this is what a finished property looks like. Dream Retreats designs and builds the whole thing, so you deal with one company from the 3D design through to the last plant.
